Tree Donation Information

The Physical Plant and IPFW graciously welcome gifts of trees to the university campus. Many patrons of the University enjoy dedicating a tree to celebrate events in their lives or simply to enhance the beauty of our campus. Whatever your reason, trees are a valued addition to our campus development.

Planning ahead is an important part of donating a tree to campus. The Physical Plant needs several weeks advance notice to coordinate and plant donor trees. The best time to plant trees is in the spring, however some species can also be planted in autumn. We will accommodate special requests for planting date when possible. The location and species of tree is determined by working with the campus Landscape Architect and our Grounds Department's tree specialist to determine an appropriate site in accordance with the University Master Plan.

Donated trees become the property of IPFW. Each tree will be maintained by our Grounds Department. We will keep a permanent record of the donation, and record the value of the gift. By department policy, plaques or markers are not to be placed on or by trees.

Landscape Design Services

The Construction and Facilities Planning Group provides landscape design services and acts as the steward of the exterior campus environment. We develop conceptual landscape plans, working drawings and coordinate all activities for new construction and renovation projects. The office can also assist in providing site furniture, bike racks, memorial trees, and paving renovations. All landscape designs are reviewed to ensure compliance with the University Master Plan.
